Role Overview
We are looking for a hands on Head of Engineering to lead the technical side of our organization. You will be responsible for scaling our engineering team, defining our technical roadmap, implementing feedback loops and ensuring that our technology stack supports our business goals. You'll also help build the culture of Soxton.
Key Responsibilities
Own the technical vision and architecture for Soxton's AI-powered legal platform
Build, lead, and mentor the engineering team as we scale
Drive technical decisions around our AI/ML infrastructure, document processing systems, and product capabilities
Establish engineering best practices, processes, and quality standards
Help build on the product roadmap and strategic priorities
Manage technical debt, system reliability, and security
Hire and develop exceptional engineering talent
Ensure we ship high-quality features weekly
You Should Have
0-1 experience. You've built products or teams from the ground up, ideally as a founder, CTO, or founding engineer
Proven track record leading an engineering org through a scaling phase (e.g., 3 → 30+ engineers, Series Seed → B growth, or similar inflection points)
6+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in engineering leadership
Experience building AI/ML-powered products
Ability to be hands-on while also thinking strategically
Strong technical judgment and experience with modern cloud infrastructure
Excellent communication skills and ability to operate in ambiguity
Nice to Have
Background in NLP, document processing, or legal tech

Compensation Range: $125K - $200K
